The Gibbet
2010
Sterling Silver, Corian
The Gibbet, actually did not start out as a torture device. It was first invented in the 18th century as a means to ward off people from doing crimes. The people hanging in the cages were already deseased when placed into the gibbet. Only later did they use it as a means of torture. I created this minature gibbet as a form of a talisman to ward off evil doings to the wearer.
